Cybersecurity Engineer (SOC/Threat Detection)

Job Description

Paxton Consultants is looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer to monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents and to strengthen detection capabilities for enterprise clients. You will help turn alerts into reliable signal and make the security operations center more effective. Key Responsibilities • Monitor and triage security alerts, investigating potential incidents and escalating as appropriate • Build, tune, and maintain detection rules, correlation searches, and dashboards in the SIEM • Develop automation and playbooks in SOAR tooling to reduce response time • Conduct proactive threat hunting based on current adversary techniques • Lead incident response activities, including containment, root cause analysis, and post-incident reporting • Map detections to recognized frameworks and report on coverage and trends This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent role. This is a remote position open to candidates across the US.
